Description
Our friends from behäppi in Estonia have expanded their series of challenging wooden puzzles with these wonderful new planet puzzles.
So if you're fascinated by the galaxy, the solar system, or the planets, this one is definitely for you!
Our Sun is a 4.5 billion-year-old star – a hot glowing ball of hydrogen and helium at the center of our solar system. The Sun is about 150 million kilometers away from Earth, and without its energy, life as we know it could not exist here on our home planet. The Sun is the largest object in our solar system. Its diameter is about 1.4 million kilometers, it would need 1.3 million Earths to fill it. Its gravity holds the solar system together, keeping everything from the biggest planets to the smallest bits of debris in orbit around it. The hottest part of the Sun is its core, where temperatures top 15 million °C. In one of the Sun’s biggest mysteries, the Sun’s outer atmosphere, the corona, gets hotter the farther it stretches from the surface. The corona reaches up to 2 million °C – much, much hotter than the photosphere. The Sun orbits the center of the Milky Way, bringing with it the planets, asteroids, comets, and other objects in our solar system. Our solar system is moving with an average velocity of 720 000 kilometers per hour. But even at this speed, it takes about 230 million years for the Sun to make one complete trip around the Milky Way.
This 49-piece, 20-cm puzzle shows the sun in stunning clarity. The image, provided by Nasa, is one of the clearest images of the sun ever.
The difficulty level of this puzzle is high. Although the puzzle is challenging, the clear and high-quality image makes it a lot of fun to put this sun puzzle together.
