Here we would like to introduce you to a very special brand: boyhood. The founders and designers of boyhood have dedicated themselves to the love of wood as a material. Her credo: "I love wood as a material. It is organic, alive and it makes me want to create something with it."

The vision

The history of boyhood begins in 2016 when founder and designer Jakob Burgsø quit his job as an independent graphic designer to pursue his vision.

The playful professional

When Jakob was a little boy, he spent a lot of time in his father's workshop. His father taught him basic skills and told him all his jokes. Something was awakened in young Jacob, something that would live on. Jakob fell in love with the idea of creating with his own hands. He wanted to tell stories that would make you smile and evoke memories of his childhood that he shared with his father, family and friends.

The homemade craftsmanship

With his father's basic skills, creative mindset and new skills, Jakob quickly learned that creating makes you want to create more. The Ballon D'Og was quickly followed by the paper airplane known today as the boyhood classic Maverick. The Admiral, Spin It, and Match Man soon followed.

It is crucial - and it lives in boyhood gene – that all boyhood designs are rooted in happy memories. All designs tell a story. It can be mine, my wife's, or our children's. Every boyhood figure should make you smile and remind you of a nice memory. It was created to remind you of a loving memory that you shared with your loved ones.

Family business

In the first four years, Jakob made every single product by hand. It was very demanding for him and his growing family. A few months before Christmas 2018, a Danish company ordered a large number of Mavericks for their 50th anniversary. Jacob was excited - and scared. He did what any child would do. He called his father - his mentor - and together they handcrafted a lot of Mavericks in a short time. The circle was closed: from his father's workshop to creating a career for his son.
