Design Scissors Chroma – Stainless Steel · 21.6 cm | Craighill
DesignBite combines Danish design tradition with precise manufacturing in Taiwan — the result is furniture and home accessories in powder-coated metal that treat function and aesthetics equally. At Charles & Marie we carry a curated selection of around ten products, including the popular Big Hug cake stand, tiered stands, coat hooks and plant stands. Most items are available in several signature colours and ready to ship.
Who Is Behind DesignBite?
Behind DesignBite stands an unusual partnership: Hans Thyge Raunkjaer, founder of the Danish design studio Hans Thyge & Co based in Norsminde (est. 1990), designs all products. Michael Hsiao brings manufacturing expertise from Taichung, Taiwan. The operating company — DesignBite GmbH — is based near Hamburg. The philosophy is "Take a bite out of life": great design happens when the brain (function) and the heart (aesthetics) work together. The central product line, the Big Hug series, embodies this idea — curved metal forms that evoke an embrace and translate the Danish hygge concept into furniture.
The Collection at Charles & Marie
Kitchen & Table: The Big Hug cake stand is the brand's flagship: 24 cm diameter, powder-coated metal, available in five colours — and our best-selling DesignBite product. For more space, the Big Hug tiered stand with two levels comes in five colours too. Living & Furnishing: The Big Hug tall plant stand showcases houseplants at eye level. The Big Hug cushion (60 × 30 cm) brings the signature shapes to the sofa in four colours. For a statement, the Big Hug pouf and tall wall shelf round out the range. Hallway & Organisation: The small metal coat hooks are inconspicuous yet stylish — perfect for hallways, bathrooms or behind doors.
Frequently Asked Questions
What material are DesignBite products made of?
All DesignBite products are made of powder-coated metal — robust, scratch-resistant and easy to clean. The colours are applied electrostatically and oven-cured for durability.
Which colours are available?
The Big Hug series comes in five signature colours: a muted palette from soft pink to deep green. Exact colours vary by product — check each product page for options.
Are DesignBite products food-safe?
The cake stands and tiered stands are designed for serving baked goods and fruit. The powder coating is food-safe for dry goods. For direct food contact, use a plate or liner.
Is DesignBite a good gift?
The coat hooks are an uncomplicated entry point — small, useful and beautifully designed. The Big Hug cake stand is our most popular gift from the range, perfect for anyone who bakes or loves to host.
