Description

The Totem Candles - designed by Grain for Areaware - are cast in unscented paraffin wax from forms originally created by turning beeswax on a lathe and colored in different garden tones to give a soft warm glow. Their approximate burn time is 15/25/35 hours.

Grain is a design practice dedicated to social and environmental responsibility. James and Chelsea Minola started Grain in their home, a 100 year old farmhouse where they both lived and worked for many years with their five chickens and small wine making operation, 35 minutes by ferry from Seattle on Bainbridge Island, Washington/USA.

In 2015, after their daughter was born, Chelsea and James moved Grain to a three story studio space in the Island Craft workshop community also on Bainbridge Island.

Never leave a burning candle unattended or near anything that can catch fire. Always leave at least 10 cm between burning candles. Trim wick to about 1cm before lighting the candle. Cut off excessive material at the rim of the candle to assure that it burns evenly.
