Description

The Oros Grater is an elegant update to one of Japan’s traditional kitchen tools.

In 1540 François Boullier invented a cheese shredder to avoid wasting hard cheese, and ever since then, graters in Europe and the U.S. have remained clunky and sometimes frustratingly difficult to use. Japan’s version of the grater, known as oroshigane, is a tin-coated metal sheet with small spikes gouged out of the metal: it’s almost like sanding paper and a staple in every kitchen.

The Oros by EAトCO from Japan is an updated, pared-down version of the traditional oroshigane. Made from easy-to-clean stainless steel, it is a compact tool for grating cheese, wasabi, ginger or anything else that fits in the 5 cm grating area. It’s also elegantly simple and the designers have paid careful attention to usability: half of the Oros curved shape is a convenient catchment area for whatever delicious thing it is you’ve just grated.

Joy of cooking and joy of eating. EAトCO aims to create fun and comfort around the kitchen and the dining table in an integrated way. Our cooking tools will make your "cooking + eating" a happy event, more than ever before.
