Description
TOMIGAYA LETTERPRESS
Two years. 736 pages. A notebook in mint – hand-pressed, hand-bound, for those who think long.
The 365×2 Notebook by Tomigaya Letterpress holds two years in a single object. 736 blank pages — no grid, no structure, just paper — hand-bound by a long-established bookbindery in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. The cover: hand-pressed with vintage wooden type blocks on a historic letterpress. And exactly in the middle, after page 365, a special letterpress page awaits: “STILL HALFWAY — ALREADY HALFWAY.” A notebook that reminds you how far you’ve come.
The Concept: 365×2
Two years in one notebook — that sounds like a lot, but it is consistent reduction: a single companion for everything to be thought, planned, written and re-read over two years. 736 blank pages without date, without structure, without instruction. The notebook begins when you want to start — and ends when you are done.
“Still Halfway — Already Halfway”
Exactly in the middle of the notebook — after page 365 — a single page is hand-pressed with vintage letterpress type: “STILL HALFWAY — ALREADY HALFWAY.” Not a quote from a book. Not a motivational phrase generated by an algorithm. A genuine letterpress impression that meets you at a specific moment in your writing journey — and reminds you that you are exactly as far as you are meant to be.
The Craft
Cover: hand-pressed in Tokyo with vintage wooden type from the 1940s to 1970s — on a historic letterpress owned by the founder of Tomigaya Letterpress. The natural scratches and dents of the aged type create a slightly different impression on every copy — no two are identical. Binding: cloth-bound hardcover, built to last two years of daily use. Bookbinding: hand-bound by a long-established bookbindery in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. Two built-in ribbon bookmarks for navigation across months and years. Paper: fountain-pen compatible, no bleed-through. Every step: made in Japan.
As a Gift
The 365×2 Notebook is a gift for people who intend to write — seriously and long-term. For New Year, for starting university or a new job, for a sabbatical, for a significant birthday. For everyone for whom a standard notebook fills up too quickly. And for everyone who will one day turn to the middle and read: “STILL HALFWAY — ALREADY HALFWAY.”

What is the 365×2 Notebook?
The 365×2 Notebook by Tomigaya Letterpress is a 2-year notebook from Tokyo: 736 blank pages, cloth-bound hardcover, letterpress cover with vintage wooden type, hand-bound in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. At the centre: a letterpress special page reading “STILL HALFWAY — ALREADY HALFWAY.”
What does “STILL HALFWAY — ALREADY HALFWAY” mean?
Exactly in the middle of the notebook — after page 365 — a single page is hand-pressed with vintage letterpress type: “STILL HALFWAY — ALREADY HALFWAY.” A reminder of how far you’ve already come — and at the same time an invitation to keep writing. Hand-pressed, not printed: not computer text, but a genuine letterpress impression.
How many pages does the notebook have?
The 365×2 Notebook has 736 pages — equivalent to two full years with one page per day, or two years of intensive free writing. All pages are blank — no date, no grid, no structure.
Are the pages lined, grid or blank?
All 736 interior pages are blank — white paper with no lines, squares or dot grid. This gives maximum freedom for writing, sketching and creating. The paper is fountain-pen compatible: no bleed-through with fountain pens or fine-tipped rollers.
What is letterpress printing?
Letterpress (活版印刷) is a relief printing technique using movable type: inked letterforms are pressed into the paper, leaving a visible, tactile impression. Tomigaya Letterpress in Tokyo uses historic wooden type blocks from the 1940s to 1970s. Their natural scratches and dents make every print minimally unique.
How is the notebook bound?
The 365×2 Notebook has a cloth-bound hardcover — durable, built for two years of daily use. Two built-in ribbon bookmarks help with navigation across months. Bound by a long-established bookbindery in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo.
Is the paper fountain-pen compatible?
Yes. The paper in the 365×2 Notebook is fountain-pen compatible — no bleed-through with regular use of fountain pens or fine-tipped rollers.
When can I start writing?
The 365×2 Notebook has no fixed start date — you begin when you want. At New Year, on a birthday, on a personal date. The notebook adapts to you, not the other way around.
In which colours is the 365×2 Notebook available?
The 365×2 Notebook by Tomigaya Letterpress is available in three cover colours: Teal, Mint and Rose Pink. All variants are identical in content — 736 blank pages, same quality, same “Halfway” centre page.
Who is the 365×2 Notebook the right gift for?
For people who write seriously — journal lovers, writers, diarists. For anyone entering a new life phase: starting university, a new job, a sabbatical, a move. For significant birthdays, New Year, weddings or any moment that calls for a fresh start. This is the gift for two years.
