Description
The Salt Penguin is a registered Danish quality salt grinder made out of walnut, ash and maple. J. I. Christoffersen first produced it in mid-2006. The Salt Penguin was relaunched in 2016 in cooperation with the J. I. Christoffersen family. The Salt Penguin and Tonn-P’s Pepper Bird are now a couple – and they bring elegancy to any table.
Jens Ivan Christoffersen (1928-2013) was educated as an engineer and carpenter, and created various designs, furniture and wooden toys under the name J. I. Christoffersen. He had a ”taste for life”, lived an exciting life, and was extremely productive. He also had a great love for aviation and constructed a glider from World War II on his own.
Inspiration from the freezing oceans The creations of J.I. Christoffersen were unique and functional designs made to use in and inspire everyday life, and it was exactly the elements of functionality, the irreplaceable qualities of salt and the freezing oceans that inspired J. I. Christoffersen to create the Salt Penguin.
The Salt Penguin’s grinder is the Danish-patented Hulstrøm Salt Grinder.
