Description
Multitudes
A pleated silk-effect satin tote bag in light blue and red – light, generous and machine washable. Smeralda by Multitudes, Made in Italy.
Smeralda is the tote bag by Multitudes: a pleated tote in silk-effect synthetic satin, 40 × 48 cm, in a light blue and red colour combination that evokes the colours of the Mediterranean coast. The satin handles are strong and durable; the plissé fabric gives the bag structure and volume without adding weight. And because everyday bags need to be practical: Smeralda is machine washable at 30 °C. Made in Italy by Multitudes, the Milanese label for pleated bags.
Satin and plissé
The material is silk-effect synthetic satin: a fabric that reflects light and therefore reads differently depending on how the light falls. The plissé folds amplify this effect – each fold breaks the light slightly differently, giving the light blue and red pattern a vivid depth that flat fabric could not achieve. Satin handles in the same material hold the bag together as a single object and are strong enough for everything a full day brings.
At 40 × 48 cm, Smeralda is a generous everyday bag: room for A4 documents, a book, a light jacket and everything else the day requires. The open construction makes access fast and uncomplicated; the plissé structure still gives the bag enough shape to stand upright.
Multitudes is a Milanese label entirely devoted to pleated bags – from concept to production in Italy. The result is bags that set themselves apart from ordinary tote bags through material and quality of construction, without compromising on everyday comfort.

How much fits inside the Smeralda tote bag?
At 40 × 48 cm, Smeralda is a generous everyday bag – A4 documents, a laptop up to approx. 13" (in a sleeve), a book, a water bottle and personal accessories all fit comfortably. The plissé gives the bag depth; it stands securely even when full.
Where does the name “Smeralda” come from?
Smeralda is the Italian word for “emerald” – and a reference to the Costa Smeralda, the famous coastline of Sardinia. The light blue and red colour palette evokes the luminosity of Mediterranean water and summer sun.
Is Smeralda suitable for different occasions?
Yes – Multitudes describes its tote bags explicitly as versatile: elegant enough for an evening out, comfortable and roomy enough for everyday use, shopping or travel. The silk-effect satin fabric sets it apart from an ordinary cotton tote.
How do I care for the satin handles?
The satin handles are made from the same silk-effect satin as the bag body and are described by Multitudes as strong and durable. Handles and body are washed together at 30 °C on a gentle cycle.
