BARNER

For those who make a statement with their glasses — and still wear them every single day.

The Pascal is Barner’s statement sunglass: a bold square frame in high-gloss TR-90, polarised TAC Category 3 lenses, and UV400 protection. The angular geometry takes no half-measures — and in Crystal, the transparent frame, the Pascal is one of those rare glasses you can honestly call striking. Available in Crystal and Havana.

Most sunglasses try to work for everyone. The Pascal thinks differently: the clean square shape draws a line and gives it definition. That doesn’t mean it’s hard to wear — quite the opposite. At 136 mm frame width and 52 mm height, the Pascal is compact enough for daily use and bold enough to be noticed. The glossy TR-90 frame reflects light back with intention, giving the Pascal the presence of something worn with purpose. The Crystal variant — a transparent frame — is especially interesting for those who want a frame that feels simultaneously present and weightless. A gift that says: I know your taste. And I was paying attention.

The Pascal’s lenses are made from TAC — Triacetate Cellulose — in a 7-layer construction. The polarisation filter at its core eliminates horizontally polarised light: the exact reflections from water surfaces, wet roads, windshields, and glass facades that exhaust your eyes. The result is not a darker image but a sharper, higher-contrast view — you notice it most when driving or near water. Category 3 means 8–18 % light transmission, the standard for normal to strong sunlight, suitable for driving. UV400 means full protection against UVA and UVB radiation.

TR-90 is a thermoplastic polyamide with memory-flex properties. The Pascal’s glossy frame looks more substantial than it is: the material is around 40 % lighter than classic acetate, hypoallergenic — no nickel, no plasticisers — and has a significantly higher flex tolerance. When bent, the frame returns to its original shape without stress marks or cracking. The gloss finish is a surface treatment, not a result of heavier material. The outcome: a frame with presence that still manages to feel like you’re not wearing anything.

Is the Pascal genuinely wearable every day, or is it more of an occasion frame?
Both. The Pascal’s square shape is deliberately expressive — but at 136 mm width and a compact 52 mm height, it stays proportionate enough for daily use. The Crystal variant has a particularly light visual presence that pairs well with a wide range of outfits. Havana gives more warmth for more classic combinations.

What makes a transparent (Crystal) frame special?
Transparent frames are one of the most sought-after eyewear aesthetics at the moment — they read as fashionable without distracting from the face. The Crystal frame of the Pascal is fully tinted clear and creates a striking contrast with the dark polarised lenses. A frame that gets noticed without overwhelming.

What does Category 3 mean — can I drive with these?
Yes. Category 3 means a light transmission of 8–18 % — the standard for normal to strong sunlight, suitable for driving, beach days, and everyday outdoor use. Category 4 is recommended for extreme conditions like high-alpine glaciers. Do not wear the Pascal at dusk or at night.

How do I clean polarised lenses properly?
Only with the included microfibre cloth. Coarse fibres or dry wiping with a t-shirt can scratch the polarisation film. For heavier smudges: rinse briefly under lukewarm water, then pat dry with the microfibre cloth.

Can I have prescription lenses fitted?
C&M sells the Pascal as a non-prescription model. If you need vision correction, consult your optician — TR-90 frames are generally adaptable, though this depends on the individual frame and provider.

Pascal — the square sunglass from Barcelona for those who refuse to choose between making a statement and wearing it every day.
