QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
What does “Twin” mean — how does the principle work?
The Timber Twin is not a solid block of wood but two flat sheets of ash that stand parallel to each other. The precise gap between them — 0.4 cm wide — holds the blades securely and gently on the cutting edge. The knives stand upright side by side and are immediately within reach, without rummaging in a narrow slot. The result: full visibility, almost no depth required on the worktop.
How many knives fit in — and what is the maximum blade length?
Depending on the knife type, six to eight knives fit in the Timber Twin. The maximum blade length is 21.5 cm — enough for all standard kitchen knives, from small paring knives to large chef’s knives and santokus. The slot width of 0.4 cm is designed for standard blade thicknesses; very wide or asymmetric knife spines should be checked beforehand.
Why untreated ash — and how do I care for the block?
Untreated ash has no lacquer, no oil, no coating: the blade tips are protected, the wood breathes and develops a natural patina over time. The ash originates from Germany. Care is simple: wipe with a damp cloth — not dishwasher-safe. If needed, the surface can occasionally be refreshed with a drop of natural wood oil.
Who is the Timber Twin the right gift for?
The Timber Twin is the right gift for anyone who loves to cook and appreciates beautiful kitchen objects. Particularly well suited as a housewarming gift for a new home, a wedding gift for couples setting up their first shared kitchen, or a milestone birthday gift for cooking enthusiasts. The understated design fits modern and classic kitchens alike. Delivered in beautiful packaging.
