Description

What makes a house an architectural masterpiece? So timeless that even decades later, it evokes a feeling of almost tangible beauty in everyone who enters it - and yet it is more than just beautiful. What makes a house a home?

At first glance, the houses that Living In. Modern Masterpieces of Residential Architecture could hardly be more different. But what unites the more than 30 visionary residential buildings, into which the volume provides an exclusive insight, is that each of them is conceived as a whole. As a living unity of architecture, design and residents that is condensed into a unique character. Living In tells the stories of these masterpieces - whether old palazzi or icons of modern architecture - from the perspective of the people who live in them, thus conveying architectural history in a new way.

About the author:
For six years, Openhouse magazine has been traveling the world, visiting creatives in their homes to talk to them about shared values, art and culture, design and architecture. Before deciding to publish a biannual magazine, founders Mari Luz Vidal and Andrew Trotter had the idea of opening up their own home in Barcelona to the public and transforming it into an art gallery, a place for concerts and communal meals: Into a (free) space that was shared with friends and strangers alike and from which the two roommates developed a philosophy of life that they now share with a global readership in their magazine.
