The birth of the Albert Clock can be dated to the year 2008. For this year Axel Schindlbeck begins working on his thesis for the Kunstakademie Stuttgart. He came across an idea whose originality would be compelling. The self-chosen topic of his thesis was to emphasize the fast pace of the design process and, therefore, to generate 50 product ideas in 50 days - in the form of a self-experiment. This experiment led to an unexpected outcome, as Axel would have never imagined that one of these ideas would turn out to be so durable that it goes into serial production. We are talking about the first math clock ever: the “Albert Clock”! In order to finance the project of the freshly graduated young designer, funds had to be raised first. The story of the start-up begins in 2015, when funds were raised via the fundraising platform Kickstarter. In under a month, more than double of the target amount was raised with the help of more than six hundred supporters. The digital clock went into serial production and soon after was introduced to the market. Over time the demand for a version of the clock, which retains the original idea of the Albert Clock, but stands out from the previous model by being added more sophistication and exclusivity, rose. The newest version of the unusual LED clock was released in 2019, offering more luxury through the wooden finishes.
